These are Mukden (Moukden) type overprints. All are very similar and have the same four characters 中華 China, Temporary Use and almost all of these overprints are in black.

There are over 100 different Mukden Type chops known, and all are virtually identical, this means that there could easily be as many as 1,000 stamps in this group, making it a major area of study in itself.

Many of the different chops are described by both Kerr and Chan but the most complete work published on the subject is The Post-war Provisional Issues of North East China, MLO Volume 1. written by Dr George T. Luzitano, publishers the Hill-Donnelly Corporation, and available from The China Stamp Society Inc.  This book also contains a wealth of information about postal pricing and the organization of the post Manchukuo postal services. Examples shown on covers illustrate the origins of the many Mukden type variations. It is currently the definitive work on the subject.

Dr Luzitano has kindly allowed me to base this section on his work. To arrive at the information in his book he studied over 26,000 stamps and covers over a period of 16 years. The variations listed below have been compared with illustrations shown in The Post-war Provisional Issues of North East China, MLO Volume 1, and should be seen as work in progress, it should again be considered a small sample, but might be helpful as an additional source of comparison for anyone trying to identify a particular variety.
