Complete set of two surcharges in soft black. The four top characters read 中國郵政 Chinese Post, left is the surcharge and to the right Temporary Use.

Note - Chan lists a 1Y on 5f and 5Y on 12f in addition to the above - these extra values may not have been regularly issued.

Set of 9 surcharges in red. Kerr has these split into two groups without any real explanation, here both groups are combined. The four top characters read 中國郵政 Chinese Post, left is the surcharge and to the right Temporary Use.

2Y on 3f Error

Kerr makes two points with regard to this set, firstly that the top row of characters and the surcharges are made from two separate chops, and also that there may be further values.

2Y on 5f   Opt in Black

2Y on 5f   Opt in Red

A very large surcharge, both with an additional overprint of the top row of characters from the previous set, either in red or black. This is a complete set.

These stamps have been identified by using Volume II of the Stamp Catalogue of China by Shui-Hon Chan and the four booklet guide The Local Overprinted Stamps of Manchuria 1945-7 by Allen D Kerr (published 1978 and now out of print). Both works are essential for anyone delving seriously into this subject.
